As someone who recently moved to Colorado, I quickly realized that battling the dry air here is no joke.
Nowadays I always have chapstick on hand, apply sunscreen every morning, and use copious amounts of lotion to combat the dryness.
So finding the best humidifier is crucial for me! Here's how I found the best of the best.

I based my rankings on the following factors: performance, build quality, features, value and design.
But most importantly, I wanted to see how quickly and how effectively a humidifier could raise my bedroom's humidity.

⭐ Overall Rating ️
My ABSOLUTE favorite! The Levoit 600s humidifier was super effective, loaded with features, and an overall great value. The humidifier checked all of my boxes and had plenty of small enhancements that added up to a great experience. Most of the humidifiers I tested had small drawbacks, but this humidifier made no compromises.
❤️ What I love ️
This was one of the top performing humidifiers I tested. In 3 hours, it brought my humidity level from 32% to 52%! In fact, it brought my humidity to 44% in just one hour, making it one of the fastest-actin humidifiers in my test. This humidifier also has pretty much every feature you can ask or, and more than I'll ever need. Personally, I loved the target humidity setting and sleep mode for more quiet operations. One of the absolute best things about this model is the water tank. It's a huge tank, so you won't need to refill often. But most importantly, I LOVED the handle. This tank gets very heavy when filled up, so the handle was a huge quality of life feature.
🙈 What could be better
For whatever reason, the button menu on the front of the humidifier is tricky to use. I had to press the buttons pretty hard to get them to function, which as especially annoying because of all the buttons this model has! Compared to the other models I tested, this one was also not super easy to clean because of all of the parts and difficult to reach places.

⭐ Overall Rating
Dreo's 6L Smart Humidifier landed second in my rankings. Similar to the first place Levoit, this model packs in ton of features at a competitive price and performed at very high level.
❤️ What I love ️
I personally love the look of this grey model! It fits in with my bedroom decor, which is mostly grey tones. The ambient light is a great touch and changes colors based on your humidity level (too dry, optimal, too humid). Going into this test, I didn't care much about smart features... but I really like the Dreo app! It's incredibly intuitive to set up, and gives you added functionality like setting schedules, night timers and more.
🙈 What could be better
There's a few design quirks with this model that I don't love. I'm happy there's a dedicated aromatherapy compartment for essential oils, but the placement is bizarre. It's in the very back of the unit right above the power cord. If you have your humidifier set in the same position as mine (see below), this is difficult to reach. I basically have to move my nightstand forward to access it. To refill the water tank, it's also awkward to take off the lid.

⭐ Overall Rating
For the extremely high price tag, I had sky-high expectations for the CarePod. At $275, it's nearly double the price of the second most expensive model I tested. A humidifier can't be worth that much, right? If you are looking for the Rolls Royce of humidifiers, you'll find it here.
❤️ What I love️
The CarePod had unbelievable performance. In 3 hours, the CarePod brought by humidity level from 30% to 51%! In just 1 hour, it went from 30% to 49%. I was pretty shocked to see just how fast this humidifier could raise my levels. The design and build quality are also best-in-class, and has even won awards in this category. This model feels like it could be the official humidifier of NASA. It's also incredibly easy to clean - it's just three components. The stainless steel bowl is dishwasher-safe and easy to sterilize my boiling water in it.
🙈 What could be better
It's nearly $300. It's a luxury, splurge choice. The modern design might not fit everyone's taste as well. The water bowl also has no lid or handle, so it's more prone to spills while refilling. When the Carepod is running, there's also a trickling water noise that you may either find soothing or annoying.

⭐ Overall Rating
If you are looking for something simple, effective and built too last, the Honeywell may be your pick. This humidifier is a high-performer, but doesn't come with many added features.
❤️ What I love ️
The huge 1 gallon water tank will keep this humidifier running for multiple days. Fortunately, I was happy to see the water tank had a nice handle for easily refilling. The build quality was also great, and Honeywell is a brand that I'd trust for the long haul.
🙈 What could be better
This humidifier was almost too simple. There was no auto-shutoff when water runs out and no options for scheduling/timers. On it's highest setting, this humidifier was also pretty noisy. And as you can see in the image below, this humidifier was massive! It took up almost all of my nightstand.

⭐ Overall Rating
This humidifier is the little brother to our second place humidifier. If you are on a budget or need something to fit into a compact space, this is great pick! There are tons of similarities in the pros and cons between this humidifier and Dreo's larger 6L humidifier.
❤️ What I love
This humidifier uses the same great Dreo app that's simple to setup and adds functionality. I also really like how little space it takes up on my nightstand. The design is also very appealing, and I like how it's easy to see you water level. The ambient light that represents the humidity level is here as well, but in a much larger and brigher light.
🙈 What could be better
The performance for this humidifier was just okay. It only raised my humidify level from 32% to 41% over three hours. Like the other Dreo model, this one also had an awkward aromatherapy compartment placement in the back and a short power cord.

⭐ Overall Rating
The Vornado is an interesting choice with it's fan-assisted ultrasonic design. Although this functionality didn't lead to incredible performance like I'd hoped.
❤️ What I love ️
This humidifier comes with a 1 gallon water tank but doesn't take up too much space. I like the sleek and modern look of this model, but my absolute favorite thing is the water tank. Out of every humimidfer I tested, this one had my favorite water tank design. It's got the best handle I tested, a top fill design, and feels very high quality.
🙈 What could be better
There wasn't anything that stood out to me about this Vornado model. The performance was just decent, raising my humidity level from 32% to 44% over three hours. There weren't too many features on this humidifier, just the ability to set a desired humidity level between 40 and 60. It was well-built, but didn't blow me away in any regard.

⭐ Overall Rating
Out of all of the humidifiers I tested, I was most looking forward to the Canopy bedside humidifiers. Unfortunately, it only raised by humidity level from 32% to 38% over three hours.
❤️ What I love ️
This humidifier had the best unboxing experience out of everything I tested. The focus on skincare is clear from the packaging, and I loved how big of a focus there was on eco-friendly packing materials. This humidifier also had my favorite color options out of everything I tested. Most importantly, I loved the dishwasher safe water tank.
🙈 What could be better
As I mentioned, the performance was the main drawback for the Canopy. I'm sure if I had run it longer it would've had more of an impact on my humidity level, but in three hours it didn't do much. I also questioned the build quality. The water tank never felt very attached to the base. For the hefty price of $150, I didn't see the value here.

So to recap, the Leviot 600S checked all of my boxes. Performance was very strong, the design and build quality both were great, and the humidifier had every feature I could ask for. At the end of the day, the reason you purchase a humidifier is to raise humidity levels. So while my test included 5 total factors (listed below), I weighted the score towards performance.
To analyze performance, I needed to see just how well a humidifier can humidify my bedroom. Below are notes on how I measured!
Note: If you leave any of these humidifiers on long enough, you'll hit your target humidity level. For my test, I wanted to see which humidifier could reach my desired level the quickest.
